GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

  1. Is it well written?
    A. The prose is clear and concise, and the spelling and grammar are correct:
If the currency in the history is Straits dollar please could you make that clear. Do we need to specify the variety of English? The Malaysia article is good and does not. Unless there is a reason suggest we remove that constraint (then we can change "bade" to "bid"). The paragraph about the cemetary is not very clear - shall I rewrite it or will you? The word "town" at the top of the infobox links to a list of cities - it seems Batu Arang is smaller than a Mukim? So could we say it used to be a town but now is a "village" or "suburb" of a larger place? How is it governed? Chidgk1 (talk) 11:22, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
    B. It complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation:
Suggest you rebalance the lead more towards the present as it is almost all history at the moment. Chidgk1 (talk) 09:19, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  1. Is it verifiable with no original research?
    A. It contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline:
Please cite total and rural area Chidgk1 (talk) 13:07, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
    B. All in-line citations are from reliable sources, including those for direct quotations, statistics, published opinion, counter-intuitive or controversial statements that are challenged or likely to be challenged, and contentious material relating to living persons—science-based articles should follow the scientific citation guidelines:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Headbomb/unreliable does not show any problems but as there are a lot of local sources and I don't know the country I will have to take you on trust that they are reliable
    C. It contains no original research:
Checked a few English cites at random and was OK. Again as I don't have Kaur I am taking you on trust on that - but it looks plausible. Chidgk1 (talk) 15:15, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
    D. It contains no copyright violations nor plagiarism:
    None found with Earwig tool Chidgk1 (talk) 13:13, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  2. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. It addresses the main aspects of the topic:
Please add population number to infobox and text. Could you add a map or plan to the geography section? Maybe from openstreetmap. Any info re employment - for example do most people commute to Kuala Lumpur for work? Or are there very few people of working age now? Demography - mostly pensioners? https://www.thestar.com.my/metro/focus/2015/04/14/reviving-a-sleepy-town-from-bustling-with-coalmining-activity-to-achieving-heritage-status mentions an ordnance factory and airstrip - maybe add info on those. Type of coal? Was it the only coal mine on the peninsula? More info on environment after mines closed? e.g. Spoil tips? any attempts to clean up? Any more info on ponds/lakes? e.g. is water clean? wildlife? attractive or not to tourists and locals? pic? Chidgk1 (talk) 09:28, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  1. B. It stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style):
  2. Is it neutral?
It represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each:
The lead says that during the Japanese occupation "mining methods .... left a devastating effect on the coal mine" If you have the Kaur book would it be possible to put a quote or 2 in cites in the body of the text to support the claim that coal mining under the Japanese was really so much worse than under the British, or was that just an excuse by the managers immediately after WW2? Chidgk1 (talk) 09:55, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  1. Is it stable?
It does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute:
  2. Is it illustrated, if possible, by images?
    A. Images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid fair use rationales are provided for non-free content:
I am a bit confused - if you don't know we might have to ask some copyright expert at the Wikimedia helpdesk - were the historical photos published before the 2010 slideshare they were extracted from? Chidgk1 (talk) 13:24, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
    B. Images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions:
As the lead says the aim was to make it "one of the most important tourist attractions in Selangor" are there any better pictures of tourist attractions. As I cannot find it on Wikivoyage perhaps the effort to attract tourists was not very successful? Once you have answered that we can improve the picture captions. 1. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:

Hi @Chidgk1:, I would like to withdraw my nomination for now since there got lot of fixes required in this article which need more time and might have more contents to add in into this article. Thanks. WPSamson (talk) 13:58, 30 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@WPSamson: Message me when it is ready so you don't have to wait so long in the queue. Also if you need help with copyediting let me know. Even though I wrote a lot of comments I think it is not too far away from being "good" so I hope you continue with it. Looking forward to more pics (lake?) if you are allowed to cycle there.
