Shrub vs tree edit
On the Main page today, this article says, "Banksia sphaerocarpa, the fox banksia, is a shrub (occasionally a tree) in the family...", which I thought was strange because I thought something was a shrub xor a tree? I came here because I thought the article would explain to me how it can be both but didn't find but one sentence about this which only said, "It is the largest of the varieties, encountered as a large shrub or small tree to 4 m (13 ft) high". It is an odd statement and I think requires more explanation. How do botanists distinguish between a shrub and a tree? It it solely by phenotype? Genetics? Is it a sharp or fuzzy classification?
