Conclusion: Balawaristan is not a widely-used term, and its use is linked to separatism/nationalism, which according to some sources [1] is being supported by Indians. As usual, the veracity of these reports is hard to ascertain.

A Google search on the term Balawaristan, even after attempting to exclude the National Front ( Balawaristan -"National Front" -BNF ), still yields results that are mostly related to separatist/nationalist groups or movements, or to discussions about them. I know of people native to the Gilgit area who had not heard of the name Balawaristan until recently. Criticforaday 22:00, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

I also checked most of them out, and almost all the articles are sourced from hardline, extremist indian sites. Most of the info is hardly accurate and lacks authenticity and have considerable bias in them. I suspect that most of these articles have been written for malicious intentions and as such cannot be trusted or considered accurate.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.228.164.238 (talk) 16:50, 1 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Your information is not right. Although the name was used in limited way earlier and nationalist people tended to use it more, it is now in wider use. It does not always mean separatism. It is just become a preferred name for the area. I am afriad that for some persons any idea that any region outside Punjab or Karachi might have its own identity and aspirations becomes a reason to oppose it and call it separatist. Be more sensitive to others identities also. Zarwana (talk) 19:20, 24 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Clearly, some people still want to destroy any record of ethnic identity in this area. This is exactly what leads to separatism in the first place. All content is heavily supported with very valid sources including lots of Pakistani, European etc sources. Respect the truth. --Zarwana (talk) 21:10, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I removed INDIA GEOGRAPHICAL STUB edit

Someone incorrectly put an "Indian Geographical Stub" tag which is incorrect because Northern Areas are in pakistani teritory. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.224.89.150 (talk) 19:09, 15 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

Balawaristan National Front (Naji) edit

The Balawaristan National Front is a major political party seeking the independence of Gilgit Baltistan, Balawaristan located in Pakistan, as well as Chitral and Kohistan, in neighbouring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The party also claims regions in Indian-Administered Kashmir, Kargil and Ladakh, as part of its historic territories. The party is represented in the 33-seat Gilgit Baltistan Legislative Assembly by a single member, Nawaz Khan Naji Supreme Leader Of BNF.

The leader of the party, Nawaz Khan Naji, is quoted as saying in 2002 that "We cannot measure the degree of support that we enjoy." The party fielded two candidates in the 2009 elections for the legislative assembly of Gilgit-Baltistan - though neither candidate was elected to the 33-seat assembly, which is dominated by mainstream Pakistani parties such as PPP, PML, and JUI. However, in a special by-election in 2011, BNF founder Nawaz Khan Naji won seat LA-22 Ghanche-I, with 46.4% of ballots cast in his favor.[2] Upon taking his seat in the assembly— Preceding unsigned comment added by Balawar001 (talkcontribs) 08:35, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
