Merger Proposal edit

This content should be merged with the lichen sclerosus page, since they are different words for the same skin condition and there is duplicate content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smhanov (talkcontribs) 18:28, 9 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Oppose - Balanitits xerotica obliterans is a subtype of Lichen sclerosus, not the other way around. Vulvar lichen sclerosus is also a subtype of lichen sclerosis. It's not just about the penis... - Barbara (WVS) (talk) 01:22, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Rewrite edit

I propose that this article should be essentially rewritten. I have created a temporary page at Balanitis xerotica obliterans/temp for this purpose. I have begun by locating suitable references. So far, I have 30 of these. If anyone has any others, please add them. - Jakew 12:00, 17 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Some advice:
  • Check WP:LAYOUT: I think it's best not to use references in the lead section.
  • Try to avoid medical terminology (for that mather, read WP:MEDMOS).
  • Needs more wikilinking in some paragraphs.
I don't think you can get it to featured in the short run, but certainly this looks like it's going to be a GA soon.

Yes, the lead section is a weak point of the article in general. Jakew 09:29, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I've rejigged some of the section headers and gone through all the citations (these are listed in footnotes rather than as references to teh whole topic) converting into citation template for consistant markup style. Of particular note here is that the title of a paper is normally only linked if to a full on-line version, abtracts are normally linked separately. The PubMed links can be done simpler with PMID
. David Ruben Talk 04:52, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
The article's looking better already. :) Jakew 09:29, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Per Steven's suggestion above, I've added copious (possibly excessive) wikilinks to the article. Jakew 12:35, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

My suggestions:

  • Prognosis and Treatment sections have one sentence lines. They should be converted into better prose.
  • Images of BXO section should be among External links (there is no external link anyway...)

Anyway it's improving a lot. :) NCurse work 13:39, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
