Talk:Audio and video connector

Proposed Deletion edit

These topics are adequately covered in better detail by other articles such as Video#Video Cable/Interface Standards, List of display interfaces, and more discretely in Audio connector. I propose deleting this article as it is redundant and too broad. I believe it is better to treat the audio and video topics separately. If the original intent was to discuss connectors that support both audio and visual signals simultaneously, a more specific article name should have been used. Apparently Audio connector now resides here, merged by Beland on 01 July 2008. (It would be nice if that had been noted on this page.) Evidently the above proposal for deletion must now fail. —DIV (128.250.80.15 (talk) 09:07, 15 July 2008 (UTC))Reply
Why can't another merge occur? I propose to merge some content to Audio and video interfaces and connectors. We have List of video connectors so why not rename this page to List of audio connectors, split video related matter to the List of video connectors and change redirects and incoming links around the audio/video split. This would reduce duplication. - Shiftchange (talk) 07:47, 19 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I merged this to Audio and video interfaces and connectors; further organization is still needed. -- Beland (talk) 19:14, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Signal Quality edit

Some form of ranking or discussion of the signal quality of each form versus the others (within categories obviously) would be useful for the uninformed (such as myself). Anyone able to help?

Will address on Talk:Audio and video interfaces and connectors. -- Beland (talk) 19:13, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Redirect edit

How can I make this page findable when searching for "A/V Connector"? Anca 18:31, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good idea. I created redirects from "A/V connector" and "AV connector". Chimpex (talk) 04:52, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

S/PDIF or SPDIF? edit

The page uses both forms. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.160.126.149 (talk) 23:39, 13 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The article title is S/PDIF so standardizing on that. -- Beland (talk) 18:52, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Y-audio splitter edit

Any thoughts on adding cable configurations such as a "Y-audio splitter" [1]? —DIV (128.250.80.15 (talk) 09:09, 15 July 2008 (UTC))Reply

Added see-also link to Y-cable. -- Beland (talk) 19:07, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Missing cable type edit

There is a type of cable, with two 'y' shaped metal plates (very small), that fits around two screws in the back of a video device - put them under the screws and tighten. Ex - they were used with older TVs and some old video game consoles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.146.242.133 (talk) 20:53, 8 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think you mean a spade connector? Added. -- Beland (talk) 19:02, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Digital Flat Panel edit

should Digital_Flat_Panel be on the list somewhere. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.125.159.143 (talk) 21:19, 18 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Added. -- Beland (talk) 19:05, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Work was started on this by Beland. Needs to be completed. ~Kvng (talk) 15:37, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
