Date

Looking up dates for Astronomers Royal, in Wilkepedia I find the statement "the Astronomer Royal for Scotland, which dates from 1818" which is wrong. It dates from 1834. Not an auspicious start with Wilkepedia!!

Stipend

Since the post is nowadays an honorary one, there's no need for inflation-indexing; the Astronomer Royal will have that title in addition to other functions, from which he or she makes a living. Keeping the salary fixed at a hundred pounds a year underlines that honorary character of the post and also maintains historical tradition. SchnitteUK (talk) 11:46, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
