that makes total sense because that must have given birth to islam and muslims. Hence the constant attack on the Indian subcontinent from 8th century CE. Whoever wrote that last comment, please tell me that you are kidding. Hindu supremacists being what they are, I would not be at all surprised if somebody espoused in all seriousness the whack-job idea that Islam is an artefact of Ashvatthama's travels in the Levant. The purpose of this section was to emphasis that "the collision of two Brahmastras" could have also occured in the Kurukshetra between Arjuna and Karna. In the sage vedavyasa's Ashram, the great sage prevented the destruction of the entire world by asking Ashwathama and Arjuna to withdraw their respective Brahmastras. If the same situation had it been occured in Kurukshetra war between Karna and Arjuna, then even Krishna would have not intervened to prevent the catastrophic collision of these two astras. So, the Parasurama's curse indirectly saves the entire world by avoiding such a situation between Karna and Arjuna. --Mahabharat fan (talk) 15:34, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

about Ashvatthama's Wife & Heir

Thanks to wikipedians for recent update in the article. I am very much interested hindu mythology. I was working a project about Chiranjeevins in last 6 to seven years. I have collected wast data about the Chiranjeevins. But i am unable to get any clear image about Ashvatthama's wife and heir(kid). The same age pandavas and kaurava are getting married and some others are got grandchilds too. But why Ashvatthama did not marry a women ? or he cursed by some rishi in the matter ? Article Cleaning Up!!

As per the reference improve template dated 2009 this article needs serious update with data that can be verifiable!!.As i went through the article it seems that most of the stories about the character Ashvatthama is just folklore or the mere imagination of various editors over the years..Majority of claims cannot be verified by any means. I am deleting such contents and replacing it with datas that can be verified.I AM CURRENTLY UPDATING THIS PAGE WITH DATA AND REFERENCES FROM KM GANGULYS "MAHABRATHA" PRESENT IN SACRED TEXTS WEBSITE.All the contents are verifiable(links provided) and added links to almost all of the important words to other pages.

As i felt before making edits to this page, some editors over the years made edits and included their personal opinions to make the character Aswathamma looks like a super villan.As a wikipedian its our responsibility to maintain the page neutrally not to judge any character as good or bad!!!.

I am adding some quotes to this page which i felt most necessary in order to show light into the life of the character Aswathama.Most of these quotes are showing the emotional feelings of the character and which i feel is most necessary to understand these character fully.Please dont delete those quotes,but after some time with the consensus of other edits we can make necessary changes. After the 18 days of Mahabharata war,Ashwatthama killed Dhrishtadyumna and five children of Draupadi secretly and cowardly in the night when they were sleeping.The very next day Ashwatthama hide in Veda Vyasa Ashram and Pandavas,Lord Krishna also approach their when they know the massacre done by Ashwatthama.Then,Ashwatthama uses Brahmastra to kill Abhimanyu's wife Uttara and her child in the womb but Lord Krishna's Sudarshan Chakra saved them by Brahmastra.To give Ashwatthama a punishment,Lord Krishna gave a curse of immortality to him and take his pearl which was situated in his head by birth.The pearl give Ashwatthama power to use all types of weapons, to always stay healthy and never be hungry or thirsty.While giving curse,Lord Krishna said that “Ashwatthama,now you will be tortured by the conditions in coming thousand years.You will wander like a beggar but no one will give you shelter.You will face the persecution and start hating yourself.Then,you wants to die but the death never comes to you!” ShikaDikaMika (talk) 06:46, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Is ashwathama still alive

A few things I noticed on first appearance.

Dear All, Good evening! Eventhogh from India, I am not really well versed with Mahabharatha. But if I remember correctly, Aswatthatma is the most correct spelling in English I can find. Also, Krishna is supposed to be an Avatar of MahaVishnu, who had a tendency to tell lies or to get things done in a crooked way. It is depicted easily in the story of Samudra Manthan. So it may not have been a curse, and since he was on Pandava's side, a blessing to the Kaurava's side has to be done discretely. Also the the term Atma(As I know) in his name should make him live happily forever. I feel bad to put it here, and also being a Hindu converted to Christianity, I always used to feel that Kaurava's were on the right side than Pandava's.
