Talk:Art of the Middle Paleolithic

Proposed merges

edit

Venus of Tan-Tan and Venus of Berekhat Ram have been proposed to be merged to this article. I agree that the Tan-Tan article does not stand on its own, and could be merged, but with the dating falling more into the Lower Paleolithic than the Middle Paleolithic, a merge to Prehistoric art might be better. As for the Berekhat Ram object, this seems to have had much more coverage, see [1]. I believe it stands alone without the need for merging. Fences and windows (talk) 17:50, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Berekhat Ram object has been referred to in about 200 academic articles:[2]. Fences and windows (talk) 17:56, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Inconsistency

edit

"Similarly, the "Divje Babe flute" has controversially been claimed as a Neanderthal musical instrument dating to about 43,000 years ago." But the top of the article says "The earliest undisputed evidence of prehistoric art dates to the Upper Paleolithic, some 50,000 to 40,000 years ago" So the flute wouldn't really belong in this article... 73.76.71.94 (talk) 17:45, 9 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
