General edit

Can we get some citations on the vernacular terms?

In my day (1971-72) we called it the "KP Ribbon", in referrence to the fact that trainees were required to do KP duty several times during training on a rotational basis. Wschart 22:59, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

The award was only authorized in 1981, so perhaps you have the Army Service Ribbon confused with another award? QueenofBattle (talk) 17:04, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
There's no encylopedic citations for what we called it either, either the "Gay Pride Ribbon" for its resemblance to the rainbow "Pride" flag, or even more succinctly, the "Fag Tag." Pre-9/11, if you were in a CONUS unit that was stingy with AAMs, you could go for first three years with that as your only award until you got your GCM at three.WiseguyThreeOne (talk) 22:45, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Criteria edit

The criteria listed for this page is off. One must graduate an MOS-producing school or an officer basic course. Just completing basic training, an ROTC program, or OCS does not meet the criteria. ----SFC,USA

This article is all wrong - unsurprisingly. The ASR is given after AIT or basic branch school for officers (BOLC II/III). It is NOT awarded after BCT or OCS. 74.185.105.135 (talk) 11:05, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are both correct per Army regulations; thanks for the head-up. We'll get it fixed in the article. QueenofBattle (talk) 17:04, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
