Chastity belt edit
Does the novel actually use the words 'chastity belt'? If I remember correctly, there is an allusion to a chastity belt but no actual reference (I know I have Armadale lying around somewhere but ....).--Regent's Park (Rose Garden) 14:53, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Chastity belt edit
Saying that Major Milroy « has imposed a chastity belt on his daughter » seems quite untruth and never mentioned in the novel. This expression is never refered to, during the story, and Major just try to protect her daughter from a possible delusion, putting to the proof her future husband's love, keeping them away for 6 months. Valuation edit
I should like to see, in the text, one or more references to literary criticism which compares this novel somehow with other novels of the same author. It appears to me, for example that in general, the novel stands quite below the Moonstone and the Woman in White, and that on the other hand, for example in the letters between Gwilt and Aldershaw, Collins shows us his mastery. But I am not an expert in literature and have no right to put such a personal view in the text.
