Ariadne and Dos???? I -severely- doubt that, especially since that's its real name too, not just the American name.

Same. There's really no connection between Ariadne and Ariados, aside from "Ariad" of the name. However, in Creepy Crawlies, there is a spider character named Ariadne.

It is possible that the connection is made between Ariadne being famous for the thread she wove, and Ariados being known for their silk, though the connection is still vague.

But then, with Nintendo's farfetched cry for origin of Ralts and Kirlia, I suppose it's possible.
