Merger proposal
editThis new article should be merged into Seasonal thermal energy storage and the title of this article should be made to redirect to that one, in my opinion. Coastwise (talk) 19:59, 27 January 2015 (UTC)Coastwise (talk) 04:13, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
Merging these pages would result in an unbalanced article on STES, with respect to other STES technologies (such as BTES, CTES, energy piles, pit storage etcetera). Therefore, I propose to keep the STES page as a general overview and allow separate pages for the individual technologies. Arbarstrigo (talk) 10:43, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
- I don't see a problem there. This is quite a short article, and best fits in the STES one in my opinion. The other sections in the STES article could of course be built out farther, but even if not I don't see the alleged "imbalance" as a problem. Having separate articles for the sub-technologies of STES would detrimentally chop up the subject matter, in my opinion. So I still advocate the merger. Coastwise (talk) 08:20, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
STES is a sub-field of the ground source heat pump industry. It is being presented here as something new, but should be part of the greater GSHP/GHP set of entries. I added a reference to Ground-coupled heat exchanger. Merging this with ATES would not be appropriate -- instead both STES and ATES should be properly linked to Geothermal heat pump, IGSHPA, etc. Clemenzi (talk) 16:19, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
- I disagree. STES does not necessarily involve a heat pump, as one example in the case of "free cooling." Coastwise (talk) 08:14, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
should not be merged. STES comprises many different technologies. ATES is one specific form of STES — Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.132.49.163 (talk) 19:34, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
Should not be merged as by arguments above. Removing template in article. --Vigilius (talk) 10:20, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
