International association edit

I'm tagging the page with {{Globalize/UK}} today as while the first Antiquarian Booksellers Association was British, both the organization and the many member Antiquarian booksellers now exist world wide, albeit perhaps most often found in countries that were formerly part of the British Empire.

Whether or not the British founders remain the leaders is for the article, but it needs to cover the global organization... these dealers are all networked now over the internet. Take for example the cite I posted a day or two ago:

  • "editions (search) list". Retrieved 2009-03-08. About page, "Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America" offerings on sale 8 March 2009
    * catalog listing for the book: "HARRAP, George G. Some Memories, 1901 – 1935"
(subtitled: "A Publisher's Contribution to the History of Publishing")
** Quote: "Publishers of English classics for the educational trade, Harrap was also known for publishing finely illustrated books by Rackham, Gooden, and others, and as the publisher of Winston Churchill."
  • Note this is an AMERICAN site, touting a British publisher's auto-biography...
  • It's indeed an international world these days.

This article is specifically on a British organisation (which does have some overseas members, as the article acknowledges) - it is not a general article on organisations of antiquarian booksellers. It's in the nature of the article, therefore, to be UK-focused, just as the articles on London or BBC or a thousand other subjects are! For that reason I've removed the {{Globalize/UK}} tag.
The Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America is a different, distinct organisation. Barnabypage (talk) 15:55, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
