I am moving some references here from the article, in order to save them for future use - all of these are from sections that had no text at all, only a bunch of links. They can be added back to the article when\if text is written. Dawn Bard (talk) 14:18, 16 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I do no think that section titles should be wiki linked. Wiki links should be added within the article. ContributingCarol (talk) 03:17, 22 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Reviewed this. My response is that the article is way too long for the typical reader. I hope its sponsoring editors will replace it with a much more concise summary piece and move the detail to other articles. Have pity on your readers!

Berenty Forest Reserve

edit

Both the Androy and Anosy articles include, in their history sections, mention that in 1936 "The first sisal plantation near Amboasary is established by Établissements Gallois. Henri de Heaulme established his sisal plantation and the Berenty forest reserve." I'm trying to establish which region the Berenty reserve is in, and this ambiguity is not helpful. The reserve is (just) west of the Mandrare River,[4] which I think puts it in Androy. Anyone know for certain? Dave.Dunford (talk) 16:15, 19 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

As Dawn did above, I'd like to move some of the Anosy site to here pending it getting fleshed out as right now it's just placeholders:

Excessive citations

edit

If someone (not me) wanted to trim the overciting here, that would be great. In my recent edit I removed several sections which said nothing, but contained citations. The Ilmenite section is still particularly out of control - it has more citations than actual content. The excessive citations could be removed, or used to improve the article. Thanks, Jessicapierce (talk) 00:43, 5 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I did a major copy edit / rewrite of the article. In the process, I took a lot of the "general citations" and moved them to the "Further reading" section. Some of these might be salvaged but I suspect that a lot of them are outdated. The article needs many more footnotes.
I also got rid of a lot of the uncited trivia and material which just didn't belong in the scope of this article. Some of this material might be recovered from the article history and added to other articles, if citations can be matched to the material. In particular, material might be moved to the broader articles, like History of Madagascar (which I tried to include in hatnotes for various sections), or to more-specific articles like Zafiraminia or sisal. It's well beyond the scope of this article to have in-depth discussion of Rosy Periwinkle when that should be in the articles for periwinkle, agriculture in Madagascar, or various medical articles. – Reidgreg (talk) 19:56, 13 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
