Why no number 1 rankings?

How does an album sell "4 million" and only hit number 21 on the US charts. Country charts don't mean anything. If they sold as many as this article says they did then they would have top 3 albums all over the place on US billboard charts. This is so inaccurate

I can't name one song by these "artists"

Little late, but here's your response. 1) Charts only count for the year of release, sales can continue long after that. An artist can release an album that sells only modestly at the time but continues to sale at that rate for years or decades afterwards. If you check the links, you'll see that the platinum certifications occurred years after the album's release. 2) Country charts show how a country band performs against other country bands, who are presumed to be their direct competitors. It's like how TV ratings give overall ratings and in the show's timeslot ratings. 3) And I'm sure that there are many "artists" that you listen to that I could not name any of their songs. I might not even recognize their names. But that would mean absolutely nothing.--Khajidha (talk) 15:47, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
