News since 2015 on this project? edit

I expanded the article a bit by taking more from the sources already provided. But there is no news since 2015 on this project. My quick on line search found that this group has or wants to start Akon Lights America, to expand the use of solar technologies for electricity in the US as well as in Africa. But that did not update the status in Africa. Maybe someone has better sources than I could find? --Prairieplant (talk) 04:02, 30 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

As far as I can tell this project either became the Lighting Africa project of the World Bank, was absorbed into it, or possibly works in tandem with it. I am not sure of Akon's current involvement as his name is no longer headlined and he is not mentioned on the https://www.lightingafrica.org site, the http://www.akonlightingafrica.com website no longer exists, and the akonlightingafrica twitter (https://twitter.com/akonlighting) seems to have been inactive for years, but the Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/AkonLightingAfrica) has been active recently, but still links to the defunct http://www.akonlightingafrica.com while Google links the Akonlightingafrica project to the World Bank project's site https://www.lightingafrica.org SmithyV (talk) 17:59, 18 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
