Talk:Agha Bozorg Mosque/POTD blurb

Agha Bozorg Mosque
The Agha Bozorg Mosque is a late 18th-century mosque in Kashan, central Iran. It was built by master mi'mar (architect-overseer) Ustad Haj Sa'ban-ali for the preacher and political leader Molla Mahdi Naraghi (1716–1795), who received the title of Āghā Bozorgh ('great lord') from Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar, the shah of Iran. The mosque consists of two large iwans (rectangular halls), one in front of the mihrab (niche pointing towards Mecca) and the other by the entrance. The courtyard has a second court in the middle which comprises a garden with trees and a fountain. The iwan in front of the mihrab has two minarets with a brick dome. It was here that Ustad Ali Maryam as a pupil started his career as an architect.Photograph credit: Diego Delso
