Copyright edit

Hello, am I missing something or are the lyrics under copyright? Ned Washington apparently died in 1976, this is too recent. Huñvreüs (talk) 18:13, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Huñvreüs: Per https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/music-law-101-how-long-does-copyright-57301/:
The song was first published in 1933, which makes it 89 years old. On October 27, 1998 the song was 65 years old, so the copyright was still subsisting. As such, the total copyright protection is valid for 95 years. I'm certainly no expert regarding copyright law in the U.S. Wikipedia:Non-free content and Wikipedia:Copyrights has more information as well. Per all of this, it appears to be very likely, in my opinion, that the lyrics are still protected by copyright. As such, I have removed the lyric content and revision deleted versions of the article that contained it.
In the future, you can post such concerns at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. North America1000 17:48, 9 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
