Redirect edit

How about a period of study first? This decision seems rash and unjustified. Famartin (talk) 03:36, 19 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure what "a period of study" would involve. What would we be studying, and what results would we be looking for? What would indicate that we should have a redirect?
There are only two DAB entries, and it seems folk going to ASOS are far more likely to be looking for ASOS.com than Automated airport weather station. And if they are looking for the latter, a hatnote at ASOS.com means they'll get there just as quickly.

If you want to study, create two new redirects which only exist on this page. Then, measure usage over a month. That will give you the answer. I'm not sure about removing saucerful of secrets however, seems like that is indeed used.--Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 17:46, 19 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
There's no reference in A Saucerful of Secrets to it ever being referred to as "ASOS"; MOS:DABACRO states "it is important that each individual entry is referred to its respective abbreviation within its article". —me_and 09:50, 20 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
um, Wikipedia is not a reliable source - so forget what is written here, check sources - I found several that use ASOS as a shorthand.--Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk),

A Storm of Swords edit

@Breckham101: You've reverted my removal of A Storm of Swords from this DAB page with the comment "people commonly do and on the awoiaf.westeros.org page it redirects to A Storm of Swords". I'm happy to believe you that that's true, but that doesn't override WP:DABACRONYM – if the book is referred to as ASOS, the article should mention that and back it up with a reliable source (which AWOIAF won't count as).

I'm commenting here to avoid an edit war, but I'll note WP:STATUSQUO: "If you make an edit which is good-faith reverted, do not simply reinstate your edit." You also marked the change as minor; per WP:MINOR, minor edits should be those that require no review and could never be the subject of a dispute – if you're reverting a good-faith edit, that's never going to be a minor change.

AFFC mentions A Feast for Crows, why shouldn't A Storm of Swords be listed here? SiberianDante (talk) 19:49, 2 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
