Wrotham Heath and use of verb terminates edit
The statement that the "A25 terminates at Wrotham Heath" sounds as though everything stops!. The idea of a road is that it is a means whereby traffic gets from place to place, so the fact that a road may not exactly reach its destination, doesn't means that its purpose isn't to do that. Hence I use the words "it carries traffic". And a little bit of history never does any harm! Perhaps later writers might add the names of some of the inns? Peter Shearan 15:42, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
- This is not the place for parochial history like pubs, see WP:UKCITIES. The UK, due to urban 'organic' growth has bypasses of bypasses in several locations making roads a notoriously inappropriate subject, take for example the A5 vs Watling Street (Dover-Wroxeter), or A4 vs A30 in London, or Portsmouth Road as cases in point.
- It follows that people rightly insist on mentioning small UK places where roads terminate, when several miles from the 'continuation' destination. Even if those places are shunned as suburbs by town and country alike, they often have some of the most important transport and distribution related businesses/economies.- Adam37 Talk 21:52, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
