I thought of a good name for 2002 VE68. 498663 Suadela, named after Suadela (goddess of romance, associated with Venus). I was thinking of Neith, but an asteroid already has that name. The reason I chose Venus-related goddes is because this is as close as were going to get to a Venusian moon. — Hurricane Devon ( Talk ) 18:26, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Another proposed name exists as described in the 2024-Jan-26 Radiolab podcast episode. Zoozve is based on a mis-reading of the original name 2002 VE. [1]Iggynelix (talk) 20:51, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Iseult: It seems entirely appropriate to me that the article mentions "Zoozve" and the Radiolab episode in the context of the name of 2002 VE68. There's no need to entirely remove mention of it as was done in some edits. Something like "Alex Foster mis-spelled the provisional designation '2002 VE' as 'Zoozve' on a poster", and then citing the Radiolab episode is my preferred solution. The idea is not to make a claim that "Zoozve" is currently (or will be) the name of the object, just that "Zoozve" is an interesting aspect of non-techical coverage of 2002 VE68 and quasi-moons. That said, this has nothing to do with technical coverage; so long as there is no use of Zoozve in substantial media coverage or in official use, we can't use it on this article per policy with regards to treating it as an officially proposed name.I am, though, satisfied with the current article treatment. @Iggynelix: would you mind explaining why you're resurrecting an 18-year-old thread? As for you and @Dariodemh: I think you're fundamentally misunderstanding what this forum is; it's not for proposing new names.
