Satellite image for Hurricane Blas

I have noticed Blas image has been changed. and I don't want to involve edit warring so I raised on the talk page. @Drdpw: HurricaneEdgar 12:11, 19 June 2022 (UTC)

@HurricaneEdgar: To be clear, I presume that you are referencing the image in the hidden Template:Infobox hurricane small, correct? I do not know who exchanged Blas 2022-06-16 1745Z.jpg for Blas 2022-06-17 1540Z.jpg in the first place, but what I only reverted you for changing it back because you stated, "the picture of the storm used should be a satellite image at or near its official peak intensity as determined by their respective Regional Specialized Meteorological Center. "Near peak intensity" refers to any point where a storm has winds roughly within 5 percent of peak intensity (in knots). wikipedia:WPTC/IMG" and because Blas attained peak intensity at on June 17th 15:00 UTC, which was around the time of the image you removed. You reverted my revert stating, "Even did peak on that day we should use this image as eye appering on sattelite image see Typhoon Surigae." Your argument shifted, but be that as it may, I'll not change the image back. All that said, the question remains: (once Blas dissipates and the infobox template is unhidden) which Blas image to use"? Cheers. Drdpw (talk) 13:05, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
The eye appear in the satellite image also high quality Support In Image 2. In Wikipedia, cyclones use near peak intensity. HurricaneEdgar 13:23, 19 June 2022 (UTC)

Celia page

I was going to make a draft for a Celia page because of the fatality and people it affected in Guatemala but I’m not sure how to do that. If someone could tell me or just start the draft themselves that would be helpful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hurricane Su (talkcontribs) 00:26, 29 June 2022 (UTC)

Given the circumstances—remained at sea throughout with only one death and little documented impact associated specifically with Celia—I think that the best way to present Celia-2022 to our readers is not through a separate article, but in the 'Systems' section of this article. (WP:NOPAGE). Drdpw (talk) 01:05, 29 June 2022 (UTC)

Madeline + Lester + Javier articles?

Each of the storms i listed brought major impacts to somewhere. Madeline killed >3 people, Lester 1 and Javier none so at least Madeline should have an article. I may start a draft for one or two of them so if i do, I will list it here. Thanks! ~ MoldovaballMapping (talk) 00:09, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

I suppose an article for Madeline and Javier could be developed, though an article for Lester may not be able to be developed. It was a small storm and damage was unknown. I'd say if you were to make a draft, start with the one that you have the most info on. Hurricane Chandler (talk) 00:14, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
I would be willing to put these articles together Hurricane Su (talk) 11:58, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
I'm not sure what more can be said about these storms other than what's already said in the this article. The impact of each of these storms was minimal and their histories mundane. If you find accurate history / impact details about any of them add it to the season article rather than starting a separate draft. Drdpw (talk) 12:29, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

Draft for Kay

I'm working on a draft for Kay due to it posing a threat to Baja California. I need some help expanding it because I am very busy. Link: Draft:Hurricane Kay (2022) GDFilbert (talk) 22:33, 7 September 2022 (UTC) Ok good. I will try to help if I can but I am busy as well. Hurricane Su (talk) 23:03, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

There should be an article for Kay, but the draft needs a lot more work. 74.101.118.197 (talk) 21:42, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
Hurricane Kay maybe enough to make an article because it affect a portion of land areas. Thingofme (talk) 05:20, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
Kay caused minimal damage, was responsible for three deaths, and briefly made landfall in a sparsely populated part of Baja California before bringing beneficial rain to Southern California. I'm not sure that there is enough of a story there to warrant a separate article. Before putting a lot of effort into the draft, I would ask: Can the details of that story be fully laid out in the season section? Would an article be more than an enhanced cut-and-paste of what is in the season section? Drdpw (talk) 13:24, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, you're right. I just realized how minimal damage Kay actually did. GDFilbert (talk) 15:15, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
Kay warrants an article due to its impacts in SoCal. That information has yet to be added, and there's a lot of information that can be added. Some of it is undue weight if in the season article but not if it’s in the draft.--47.19.209.230 (talk) 18:21, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
Actually, I added a couple sentences earlier today about Kay's SoCal impacts. If you have a suggestion for what else needs to be said, please make it. And, on a side note, I also added information concerning Kay to the Fairview Fire article. Drdpw (talk) 19:29, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Thanks Drdpw for your contributions on Wikipedia! You’re a great person to have on here. :) TheEasternEditer (talk) 12:18, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

Hurricane Orlene page

Hurricane Orlene is expected to make a hurricane landfall in Mexico. There is already a draft for it made by @Mobius Gerig that I have slightly worked on. RandomInfinity17 (talk) 18:04, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

This is expected to get major damage to the region. Thingofme (talk) 09:03, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
As Orlene has made landfall, it will soon become clear whether or not its impact warrants creation of an article. Drdpw (talk) 17:15, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
No, it was merely a rainy day in Mexico. Mobius Gerig (talk) 20:05, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
Honestly, I agree. Orlene is notable but damage was really minimal. If Orlene got a page, you could argue that Madeline or Newton needs one. So a page for Orlene is pretty unnecessary unless you could find a lot and I mean a lot of information on preparations and impact. Hurricane Chandler (talk) 00:29, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
Orlene, Kay, Madeline and these other storms should have articles but there is a lack of information. Perhaps someone could find it? 173.68.184.70 (talk) 21:10, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
Struck a blocked WP:SOCK comment. Elijahandskip (talk) 20:23, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
if there is a lot information on preparations and their impact then, can create an article per WP:GNG. HurricaneEdgar 23:34, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
You must put a under construction, see this template. Dickonlandia (talk) 00:50, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
There simply isn't enough substantive preparation information nor significant damage to justify creation of a separate article. Drdpw (talk) 00:57, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
I agree with you but the information is minimal. Orlene, Kay, Madeline, Lester, Javier... they all should have articles due to their impacts. There is probably information somewhere but it needs to be found. Hurricane Chandler (talk) 10:56, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
Someone can probably write a reasonably sized (>15 kb) article on many of these systems with fatalities this year, especially Orlene and Kay. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:51, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
Javier, Orlene, and Kay now have articles. Hurricane Chandler (talk) 00:32, 28 October 2022 (UTC)

Lester and Madeline caused deaths

Hello everyone at Wikiproject: Tropical Cyclones. Cyclones Lester and Madeline caused deaths but I don't know if the source is reliable. Even so, I added it to the page and the link is this: [1] André L P Souza (talk) 15:33, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

Madeline deaths noted here as well: Storm Madeline advances through the Mexican Pacific, threatens more rains, mexico.detailzero.com September 18, 2022. Drdpw (talk) 17:05, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
Your Lester link should be correct and usable Hurricane Chandler (talk) 19:54, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

Celia Article

Hello. I changed the redirect for Celia into an article. It may not be perfect so i am trying to work on it as much as I can if anyone wants to help. Thanks! Hurricane Chandler (talk) 22:32, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

A separate article for Celia is not needed as the storm's story can be fully told in this article. Drdpw (talk) 01:24, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

Orlene Satellite Image

Is there a clearer image of Orlene at peak intensity? -TheEasternEditer TheEasternEditer (talk) 12:15, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

@TheEasternEditer, According to the Commons this, the image that is currently in use seems to be the only peak image. These two images [2] [3], which is located next to the peak image is either currently intensifying or weakening. Layah50♪ (喋ってください!) 23:45, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

Thank you Layah50 for noticing :) TheEasternEditer (talk) 23:46, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

Darby

Does Darby deserve an article? It was long lived and hit Hawaii. A decently sized article could be made for it. Similar to Hurricane Douglas (2020). Just wondering. Hurricane Su (talk) 11:49, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Darby is not similar to Douglas (2020)—a WP:OSE argument—as it passed to the south of Hawaii as a tropical storm without any impact. In fact, Darby had zero interaction with any landmasses, nor were there any reports of storm-related fatalities. Therefore, I would say that Darby does not deserve an article. Drdpw (talk) 12:54, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
Okay thanks Hurricane Chandler (talk) 23:15, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
