Talk:2021 Wokingham Borough Council election

Section giving summary of Election Result

edit

After someone had re-written the Table, I largely re-wrote the narrative, so it did not contradict the Table. The situation before this election was slightly complicated by two Conservatives having left the party, one becoming an Independent, and not standing again in this election, and the other (apparently) becoming a LibDem, and then resigning in 2020. His seat (Finchampstead South) then remained unfilled until the 2021 election, when he would have come up for re-election anyway. I think any discussion of party gains and losses needs to be based on the generally accepted convention that gains and losses are reckoned by a comparison with the previous election for these seats (2016), and not by reference to the allegiance of the member immediately before the election. I think what I have written complies with this, even though it results in more detail than would normally appear.Ntmr (talk) 15:18, 13 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I will agree with you on the complexity and it was a subject of discussion - Finchampstead South & Loddon were won as a Conservative seats, even though the Councillors there subsequently left the party, it is technically listed as a Hold. Fluffball70 (talk)
