Size alone is never a good reason to revert. If you have any particular issues with the edit in question, please specify these. With so many changes and such a terse edit summary I felt it it was impossible to efficiently scrutinise your edit. I suggest it would be better if you made several smaller edits, each fully explained. -- DeFacto (talk). 19:09, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

@DeFacto: Sorry, there are limited characters in the edit explanation. So here's what was done. Tip: you may scrutinise the new version without reference to the old version, or while using the reader (not source) view of the new version and the old version in two separate windows. Btw, I'm getting annoyed with users saying "let me see what you've done here before I restore your edit" (you're not the first one). WP:PRESERVE, WP:DRNC and WP:QUO (as well as the essay mentioned above) say that reverts shouldn't be done if you aren't sure if they are good or bad - you first have to know (or at least feel) they in some way make the article worse.

1. Expanded lead to more or less conform with MOS:LEAD requirements (summarising main points; before that, the lead only concentrated on the failure of some utility companies).

2. Eliminated "the problem" section, moving it to "Effects", as "the problem" concerns not only utilities, but also consumers and businesses dependent on natural gas. It may be moved to "Causes" instead.

3. Added info on lower Russia supplies, which indirectly (via EU market) contributed to the rise of prices in UK; and also on the Rough facility closure, which, according to The Conversation (see the article added), made UK more vulnerable.

4. Added sources about UK weather, correcting the assertion that 2021 was the least windy season (it was one of the least windy seasons, not the least.

5. Updated count of gas companies that went bankrupt (9 -> 12); the paragraph about Green Supplier Limited and Avro Energy was merged, as this is still the same topic (gas companies bankruptcies).

6. Added source on CF fertiliser plant closure and the process behing CO2 production

7. Changed PM's explanation (caused "the global economy coming back to life" after the COVID-19 pandemic) to COVID-19 recession, as the pandemic is on, but he obviously meant the recession, which is gone so far.

8. Added "current" template, as indeed new information is coming quite fast. Szmenderowiecki (talk) 19:38, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

DeFacto, it appears from your silence that the explanations presented are sufficient and you don't find any of them to be making the article worse. Please respond in reasonable time if you do not agree with the explanations, saying why. Szmenderowiecki (talk) 16:04, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
