"Asteroids" in the 2-meter size range actually hitting the Earth are a routine event. According to this impact simulator such impacts happen about every other month or so [1]. This one missed the Earth by more than 8000 km, and if it hits us in the future, it's unlikely anyone would notice. This flyby barely even got any news coverage. Looking at both List of asteroid close approaches to Earth in 2019 and https://cneos.jpl.nasa.gov/ca/ "Past (within a year)", 2019 AS5 is the closest known approach of 2019. -- Kheider (talk) 15:31, 19 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
