Condition for Lombardi pick edit

Hasn't the conditions with the 4th round pick for Matthew Lombardi been settled yet ... he played 62 games for the leafs in 2011-2012? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.69.36.95 (talk) 22:26, 9 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that pick should be moved to the main list; it will go from Toronto to Nashville. I have not yet had the time to update the article, but probably will do so today. --Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 06:14, 10 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Confused about the conditional attached to Lupul edit

Toronto gets a better pick (4th round) if Lupul contributes more to the team (plays 40+ games), and a worse pick (6th round) if he doesn't pan out (less than 40 games)? I know that what that source says, but is that actually right? Seems a little backwards... you think if Lupul didn't pan out in Toronto they'd be compensated with the better pick.Uncleben85 (talk) 23:44, 23 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

No clue if the source actually got the facts right, especially since the sentence in question looks a little bit tacked on. Unfortunately, I remember ESPN being the only one of the main sources mentioning the condition for the pick. NHL.com reported the pick as an unconditional fourth-rounder. Both Ducks and Leafs themselves, as well as TSN, said that the pick was a conditional fourth-rounder, but neither of them mentioned any condition whatsoever. Perhaps a Anaheim and/or Toronto area newspaper search is able to reveal something? --Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 08:21, 24 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Update: The TOR G&M also has the condition mentioned in the ESPN article. The OC Register only say something about a conditional pick. --Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 09:39, 24 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
This source does however reach the more logical conclusion - if Lupul works out with the Leafs, the pick becomes lower (in a later round). This article from the Toronto Star appears to be the source of this info:
"The Leafs also got highly regarded puck-moving defenceman in Jake Gardiner and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2013 entry draft for Beauchemin. The condition on the pick is the length of time Lupul is on the roster. The longer Lupul stays, the lower the pick becomes." Ho-ju-96 (talk) 13:49, 19 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
The information in the article is correct. Anaheim viewed Lupul and his $4.25 million contract as a salary dump. At the time, Lupul was seen as a burden that the Leafs had to take on in order to get Jake Gardiner. Therefore, if they were stuck with him for more than 40 games this year, they would get a higher pick as compensation. Obviously Lupul has been great in Toronto and not a burden at all, so they get the best of both worlds. By the way, the condition has been converted - Lupul can't play more than 21 games this year. Wouldn't playoff games count towards the condition? If so the pick may still be not yet determined since last I checked the leafs are still in the playoff run. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.95.98.76 (talk) 02:40, 1 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Lupul trade edit

With the Leafs season now done, has the Lupul condition been converted or not? Canuck89 (chat with me) 03:43, May 15, 2013 (UTC)

I would say that given how much confusion there has been with this conditional pick just leave it until draft day. Deadman137 (talk) 04:00, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
The NHL has posted the order of selection for the 2013 draft - http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=675365 . Judging by the information there, the Lupul condition was converted and Toronto gets Anaheim's fourth round pick (#117). The article has been edited to reflect this information. North American skaters edit

Why is there Russian and Swiss in the top 10 North American skaters ?? 70.79.51.182 (talk) 06:14, 31 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Players are classified as European or North American based on where their club team is located. So a Russian playing in the CHL would be considered a North American player.Deadman137 (talk) 07:27, 9 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Tangradi Trade edit

Just a quick heads up, the league is currently listing pick 164 as belonging to Pittsburgh instead of Winnipeg. In the article right now the trade is listed currently on pick 194, all supporting articles currently support that the trade involves pick 194.Deadman137 (talk) 20:42, 26 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Billy Welch edit

It says the first ranked North American player was Billy Welch. It was actually Seth Jones. In the edit page it shows Seth Jones' name, I'm not sure where Billy Welch came from but it's wrong. 99.246.186.221 (talk) 03:18, 14 November 2013 (UTC)ABReply

Request for Semi-Protection edit

Apparently someone changed Seth Jones to "Billy Welch"... then I just reverted a change to someone named "Ralfs". Obviously someone likes messing the article. Lupercus (talk) 17:29, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
