"Rights" to a player

edit

A hockey club may gain the rights to talk to a certain player first, but nevertheless, the player is not a free agent until July 1st. So, up to this point, the player is a member of the club he has been traded to. Hockey-holic (talk) 08:27, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Blake Wheeler

edit

Should his entry level signing with Boston be included in the free agent listing? ccwaters (talk) 19:05, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

If he was under contract with Phoenix, he should be on this list. But I highly doubt this because he signed an entry level contract. Hockey-holic (talk) 19:09, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
No he wasn't, Phoenix drafted him, but he refused to sign with them. They got an extra 2nd round pick (#35 overall) as compensation. ccwaters (talk) 19:13, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Since he did not have any binding agreement with Phoenix, treat his signing with Boston like a signing of an undrafted player then. Those usually stay off the list, if I'm correct. Hockey-holic (talk) 19:24, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I suppose it does make sense to keep him off then, I had only added him based on his being moved to a new team as a UFA, but because he was never under contract with Phoenix, he should be left off. – Nurmsook! (talk) 19:44, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Players joining NHL organisations from non-NHL clubs...

edit

...like Väänänen, Babchuk and Jamtin should stay off the list because this article is about team-to-team transactions within the NHL. Can we take this policy as general consensus or are there arguments against it? Hockey-holic (talk) 11:56, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nullified trade

edit

Should there still be reference to the nullified SJ/PHI trade in some form or should we just delete it? ccwaters (talk) 02:50, 7 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I would delete the trade from the table, but perhaps put a note on the bottom saying "Trade between SJ and PHI (Kyle McLaren for 6th in '09, Mar 4 '09) was nullified by PHI on Mar 6 '09 because McLaren did not pass a physical *insert reference here*" or something like that. But that's just my $0.02... --Soccer-holic (talk) 10:33, 7 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
We could leave it and use <strike> tags too. ccwaters (talk) 13:46, 7 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Confusing

edit

Although the color scheme show's player/team together; on the first glance it's confusing. For example, It intially looked as though Bill Gurein was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers. GoodDay (talk) 20:35, 19 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, when I made the first transactions page, it included logo images, and was less confusing. Obviously, it was decided to get rid of the logos, so it looks pretty bland now. Plus, I didn't really know what I was doing - I created it out of the little HTML I knew at the time. Please feel free to remake it. Thricecube (talk) 21:57, 19 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Free agent re-signings

edit

We should include players who have become free agents and then chose to re-sign with their same team. This would provide useful information about free agent signings that is currently omitted from the lists. A player should not be included if he re-signs before becoming a free agent, but if he re-signs after becoming a free agent he should be included in the list. undefined reference

Hello Scuddy07! In this edit, you added a reference that's dependent on a citation named "TradesRound1". But there's no such citation defined in this article, so the article renders with an error message and the information you've added isn't verifiable. Are you able to provide the required citation and fix the error? Overall, it seems like you've added a lot of new information here, but provided no footnotes. Will citations for this material be forthcoming? -- mikeblas (talk) 20:10, 12 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
