MLS overtime terminology edit

@Jhn31, Mta910, and SounderBruce: I am doing some research so that I can expand the history section of MLS Cup Playoffs and I also want to sort out the terminology used in the 2000–2003 MLS season articles. During the regular season in this era, after 90 minutes, teams played 10 minutes of golden goal "overtime", a.k.a. "sudden-death overtime" followed by a draw if no one scored.[1] The same tiebreaker was used after each best-of-3 playoff game between 2000 and 2002. If the series was tied after 3 games, there would be a a 20-minute, sudden-death "mini-game" followed by a shootout.[2]

These articles use the terms "extra time", "aet", "ASDET (Added Sudden Death Extra Time)" which I would like to replace with "overtime" or "OT" wherever possible because that is the language used by the league and media at the time.[3] Obviously "extra time" is the global standard and is used by the league today but early MLS liked to do their own thing. This article also uses "SDET" for the mini-game which I'd like to replace with "series overtime" or "mini-game" unless there is a better idea. BLAIXX 23:21, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Results and Fixtures Chicago-Colorado Error edit

Looks like the Chicago-Colorado 2-0 game is incorrect in the Results and Fixtures table, it should be 2-1 (see https://www.mlssoccer.com/competitions/mls-regular-season/2000/matches/chivscol-09-03-2000/). The source for the table is FBREF.com, which indicates Chicago won 2-0 (https://fbref.com/en/comps/22/2000/schedule/2000-Major-League-Soccer-Scores-and-Fixtures), but if you pull up that match report (https://fbref.com/en/matches/52785c1d/Chicago-Fire-Colorado-Rapids-September-3-2000-Major-League-Soccer), it shows Ross Paule scoring for Colorado in the 7th minute so it would seem that FBREF is in error. This page's standings don't seem to need updating (their source is MLS.com and the stats match up). Sorry I haven't made the correction myself, but honestly I don't know how to edit the table. Thanks for updating that. Cthulos (talk) 04:06, 15 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
