it was the year of the Banking Laws of England that is private banks were given permision to print money and put it into circulation. This is the source for the often quoted 666 sign of the beast. (Biblical scholars state that the sign of the Devil IN THE BIBLE is actually 616, or roughly somewhere in the state of Michigan, USA. Grand Rapids specifically) THis was a shift of power to the merchant bankers, siezing power through the monetary systems. This mirrors the Federal Resever Act, in the United States.

one Dating seems to be Old Style (julian) and the other date seems (false, should be the 4th according to its own article) as New Style (gregorian). Can someone add this links to it or merge the both entrys? -- Hartmann Schedel Prost 11:42, 19 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

In mental calculation systems that convert the date into a day (see Zeller's Algorithm), 1666 is of importance as it is exactly divisible by 7 (1666=238*7=2*119*7=2*7*17*7=2*7^2*17) (prime decomposition). Thus, in interpretations of (for instance) Old Testament numerological predictions which rely upon the importance of 7 (eg: Daniel), 1666, and other years which are of multiple 7 would be importance AS each day corresponds to a year in some prophecy interpreations. Therefore, a week corresponds to 7 years (and this is the format used in Old Testament documentation).

In such systems, one subtracts 1666 from a given year and then carries out a division of 7 on what remains (eg: 01012014-01011666=00000348, which is easier to divide by 7 than a larger number, especially if you've memorized some other numbers) to reduce the date to smaller and smaller integers until on gets a number in the set {0,1,2,3,4,5,6} corresponding to the various weekdays (I think 0=Sunday, but would have to check up on this). Note that there is room for mistakes when crossing over from 1BCE to 1AD, and when subtracting, though not necessarily due to the niceties of arithmetic modulo 7, subtraction can result in errors*.

Say our prophet wakes up in the morning, and carries out their numerologically-schizoid calculation, they may have forgotten to count the actual day of the prophecy and end up committing time periods BETWEEN prophecies instead due to subtraction indicating the amount of time between dates AND not including the actual amount of time involved in the transpiring of the actual dates which are being subtracted from each other themselves.

Of course, even Solomon would argue that this is all a cosmic-fart, and probably some form of joke. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnInformedDude (talkcontribs) 03:57, 22 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
