Unit Mission

edit

The stated unit mission during the Cold War reads: "Reassigned to USAFE and reactivated in 1984 with C-23 short-range transports for personnel movements within USAFE. Flew scheduled flights from Zweibrucken, Ramstein and other USAFE bases, replacing C-130 European Shuttle flights." Being assigned to Hahn AB at this time, I remember it differently. The 10th had the mission of flying aircraft parts to various fighter bases to keep the ratio of combat ready fighters high, instead of being parked while "waiting for parts." This was, of course, a rather expensive delivery method and the end of the Cold War brought an end to this delivery system.VilePig (talk)

A McChord Air Force Base commander was sentenced to 11 months in prison and a dismissal from the service after he was found to have had inappropriate sexual contact with a male staff sergeant during a deployment to Turkey.
