A fact from Étang Saumâtre appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 24 October 2010 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that the Étang Saumâtre in Haiti is a landlocked lake fed by springs emanating from calcareous rocks, with western part saline and eastern part with fresh water?
I removed the section about the merging of the lake with the Enriquillo lake. This is false and cited a very outdated reference from 1910. I put a newer reference with satellite data that shows both lakes at the highest recorded level with satellite data and they are far from merging. Another user tried to change it but the change was reverted due to lack of reference Mapichar (talk) 21:12, 15 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
