In November 2019, GWM and BMW Group established a joint venture to develop and produce Mini-branded battery electric vehicles in China. The joint venture is called Spotlight Automotive Ltd.[1] A manufacturing plant in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu was constructed between 2020 and 2022.[2] The first mass-produced vehicle, a Mini Cooper SE (J01) rolled off from the plant on 14 October 2023.[3]
