Details edit

It has a capacity of around 200 and was first built in 2015 before being completed in 2016. Until its opening, the local Muslim congregation met in a prayer hall and it was officially opened by the mayor of Sleaford, Garry Titmus[4] who was also the town's local Member of Parliament at the time.[citation needed]

The mosque has a small green dome[5] and two flanking doors in an Islamic style. It is also operated and owned by the Grantham Muslim Community Association,[2][6][failed verification] which is a registered charity.[7]

The mosque was converted from a former warehouse; the contractors were Willow Homes, and members did the internal decorating. It has 42 solar panels which supply power for its lighting system. There are prayer halls on two levels, for men downstairs and for women upstairs. The carpet has diagonal stripes indicating the direction of Mecca, for prayers.[1]

The Sleaford Islamic Centre is a registered charity.[8]
