- 1930 - The 1930 Dominican Republic hurricane made landfall on the island of Hispaniola, killing between 2,000 and 8,000 people, mostly in the Dominican Republic.
- 2007 - Hurricane Felix (pictured) made landfall over in Belize as a Category 5 major hurricane, with winds of 260 km/h (160 mph). Total fatalities were reported at 130 people and damages up to $720 million (2007 USD).
