A tornado outbreak impacted parts of the central and southern United States with the worst impacts in Iowa . A long-track EF4 tornado, the fist violent tornado of the year, killed six people near Winterset, Iowa and an EF3 tornado killed one person near Chariton . Several weak tornadoes touched down across southern Alabama , Georgia and the Florida Panhandle . A small outbreak of mostly weak tornadoes hit parts of Kentucky , Indiana and the Florida Panhandle . One significant tornado, rated EF2, damaged homes in Panama City, Florida An significant tornado outbreak produced tornadoes across the Southern United States . On March 21 , multiple strong tornadoes struck Texas and Oklahoma . An EF3 tornado hit Jacksboro, Texas and an EF2 tornado killed one person in Sherwood Shores, Texas . An EF3 tornado caused significant damage in the suburbs of New Orleans on March 22, killing one person. The third significant tornado outbreak of March hit parts of the Southern, Midwestern, and Eastern United States. On March 30, and EF3 tornado caused significant damage in Johnson and Springdale, Arkansas , and several EF2 tornadoes hit Louisiana , Mississippi , and Alabama . An EF3 killed two people near Alford, Florida in the early morning hours of March 31.
