1 Corinthians 15

3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas,[b] and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.

This verse provides two insights; 1) The fundamental Christian belief that Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected. The death and resurrection of Jesus is of paramount importance to the Christian faith.... This is the central theme of hope that despite our inability to live up to His perfect standard, God has made provision to bridge the gap by coming to this earth to atone for our inequity. 2) The fact that Paul listed individuals who Jesus appeared to after his death and resurrection lends credence to the fact that he did rise from the dead. Paul invited the Corinthians to speak to eye whitnesses themselves. Knowing that doing so would be sufficient proof of his resurrection. He would not have done this if it were not a fact.
