  • 1862 - During this summer Mikhail Bakunin writes the brochures The People's Cause and To Russian, Polish, & All Slav Friends.
  • 1881 - Premier issue of the monthly Le Communiste-Libertaire, Corning, Iowa.
  • 1894 - During this month "antianarchiche" (antianarchy) laws are passed in Italy, intended to destroy all the movements of protest against the state.
  • 1921 - Bartolomeo Vanzetti takes the stand. He is questioned at length about his political views during cross-examination.
  • 1940 - Carl Einstein (b. 1885) dies, a suicide to prevent capture by the Nazis, Lestelle-Bétharram (Basses-Pyrenées), France (or July 3?).
  • 1952 - Early in July, John Cage performs a series of his sonatas & interludes in a large tent.
