History
editIts name Đan-phượng (丹鳳) means "the scarlet phoenix" in Hanese text. This is an ancient symbol of Asian meteorology with the purpose of wishing the eternal prosperity of the land.
As of 2003, the district had a population of 132,921. The district covers an area of 77 km2 (30 sq mi). The district capital lies at Phùng.[1]
Đan Phượng district is bordered by Đông Anh district and Bắc Từ Liêm district to the east, Phúc Thọ district to the west, Hoài Đức district to the south and Mê Linh district to the north.
The district is subdivided to 16 commune-level subdivisions, including the township of Phùng (district capital) and the rural communes of: Đan Phượng, Đồng Tháp, Hạ Mỗ, Hồng Hà, Liên Hà, Liên Hồng, Liên Trung, Phương Đình, Song Phượng, Tân Hội, Tân Lập, Thọ An, Thọ Xuân, Thượng Mỗ, Trung Châu.
Because of inheriting the low land with the most abundant water flow of Hanoi, Đan Phượng was once considered the granary of the old Hà Tây province. It is known as "the homeland of the courageous maidens" (quê người con gái đảm, đồng ruộng sâu cấy dày thẳng tắp). However, this position is no longer available. The rapid urbanization process of the Hanoian government advocated ruining rural space and eroding the morality of thousands generations. Food poisoning cases often occur, and underground water circuits in this district have almost infected with industrial waste.
Culture
editĐan Phượng now faces sex before age 17 at an alarming level. This is due to the speed of urbanization too quickly leading to the invasion of toxic entertainment.
The most famous specialty of this locality is the fermented pork skin of Phùng Village (nem làng Phùng, nem nắm, nem thính). Phùng village has become a town in the reality and no one has made this dish anymore, but its recipe has been applied universal throughout Vietnam.
