Netwrix

Netwrix is a Frisco, Texas-based private IT security software company that develops software to help companies identify and secure sensitive data and assist with compliance auditing.[1] After eight acquisitions[2][3][4][5][6] the company's team geographically expanded to Latin America, UK, Germany, France, Asia, USA as well as other countries.[7] The company's flagship products are Netwrix Auditor and StealthAUDIT that help information security and governance professionals manage sensitive, regulated and business-critical data.[8][9][10]

Netwrix was founded by Mike Walters and Alex Vovk in 2006.

In 2007, Netwrix released its first product, change auditing software for Active Directory.[13] This software was subsequently folded into the company’s Change Reporter Suite, which was later renamed Netwrix Auditor.[13][14]

In 2011, Netwrix released its SCOM Management Pack for Change Reporter Suite, which integrates Netwrix’s auditing solutions with Microsoft System Center.[15]

The company released a new version of Active Directory Change Reporter in November 2012.[16][17]

In June 2013, the company renamed its flagship product, Netwrix Change Reporter, Netwrix Auditor.[18]

On 7 February 2017 Netwrix secured Series A financing from Washington, DC-based Updata Partners.[19]

On 5 April 2018 Steve Dickson was appointed as Chief Executive Officer by the company's Board of Directors. Steve Dickson replaced Mike Walters, previous CEO and co-founder and Alex Vovk, President and co-founder.[20]

On 28 November 2018 Netwrix acquired Concept Searching Limited.[21]

In August 2019, Netwrix formed a strategic partnership with Mott MacDonald, a UK-based consultancy, to offer data classification technology to clients.[22]

In October 2020, Netwrix received a majority investment from TA Associates.[23]

On 4 January 2021 Netwrix merged with Stealthbits Technologies Inc. Stealthbits provided data security and privacy solutions.[24]

In February 2021, Netwrix acquired Strongpoint, a compliance, change management, and access management solution for Salesforce and NetSuite.

On 16 June 2021, Netwrix acquired New Net Technologies (NNT), provider of software for change, configuration, vulnerability and asset management.[2][25]

On 24 March 2021, Netwrix acquired ANIXIS, a provider of software to enforce password policies.[26][2][27]

Netwrix acquired PolicyPak in October 2021. PolicyPak delivered security software to manage on-prem and remote Windows 10 desktops.[2][28]

In August 2022, Netwrix acquired USERCUBE, a France-based software developer of identity governance and administration solutions.[29]

In September 2022, Netwrix acquired MATESO, a software manufacturer based in Germany that develops an enterprise password management solution.[30]

In November, 2022, Netwrix acquired IMANAMI, US-based software company that specializes in Identity and Access management solutions for Microsoft on-prem and cloud based active directory.[31]

In December, 2022, Netwrix acquired Remediant, a US-based software developer of a privileged access management solution that focuses on discovering and removing always-available administrative access. [32]

The current Netwrix portfolio includes 16 products that enable governance across all five functions of NIST Cybersecurity Framework (identify, protect, detect, respond, and recover) to secure data, identities and infrastructure.

Active Directory (AD) security and ransomware protection solutions

Netwrix Threat Manager (formerly Netwrix StealthDEFEND) detects and responds to abnormal behavior and advanced attacks in real time.[33]

Netwrix StealthINTERCEPT identifies threats in real time, alerts to suspicious or risky changes, authentications and other events, so organization can prevent them from turning into full-fledged breaches and protect its sensitive data.[34]

Netwrix Change Tracker helps maintain system integrity by identifying unauthorized configuration changes in organization’s IT environment, simplifying security incidents investigation and accelerating response to the threats.[35]

Netwrix PolicyPak protects Windows and MacOS endpoints by controlling local admin rights to ensure the least-privilege approach and protects users from installing unknown software. In addition, the product protects the endpoints by validating that Group Policy settings are deployed correctly.[36]

Netwrix Recovery for AD empowers administrators to recover entire AD objects or just a single attribute, and restore domain controllers to enable full-forest recovery.[37]

Netwrix Password Policy Enforcer protects critical infrastructure by enabling businesses to implement and manage password policies for Active Directory across user and admin accounts.[38]

Netwrix Password Reset is an AD password reset tool that protects sensitive data by enabling users to reset or change their own passwords and unlock their accounts from any web browser, desktop or mobile device — without calling the help desk.[39]

Netwrix 1Secure is a SaaS solution designed specifically for MSPs that identifies risks, detects suspicious activity provides with continuous auditing of changes across Microsoft AD, Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) and Windows Server environments.[40]

Privileged access management (PAM) solutions

Netwrix Privilege Secure reduces an organization's attack surface and prevents lateral movement by replacing risky privileged accounts with ephemeral ones that grant the minimum access required and exist only as long as needed. Solution also helps eliminate privilege account sprawl and ensure a least privilege approach for endpoints, enabling end-to-end security for privileged access.[41]

Identity and access management (IAM) solutions

Netwrix Usercube is a SaaS solution to automate, govern, and protect enterprise identities associated with joiners, movers, and leavers. The product is designed to support zero trust security model.[42]

Netwrix GroupID provides an automated user and group management capabilities for Active Directory, Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) and MS365.[43]

Netwrix Password Secure is an enterprise password manager that protects sensitive credentials and ensures they meet high standards.[44]

Data access governance (DAG) solutions

Netwrix Auditor and Netwrix Enterprise Auditor identify risks, detect suspicious activity, and help investigate security incidents around sensitive data.[45]

Netwrix Data Classification identifies and classifies sensitive, regulated and mission-critical data[46] and reduces its exposure.[47]

Netwrix Strongpoint is a configuration management solution for CRM systems NetSuite and Salesforce. It eliminates configuration errors and potential data loss.[48]
