Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui

Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui is a major general in the Bangladesh Army who is the incumbent director general of the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB).[1] Prior to his promotion to Major General, he served as the Director of Army Sports Control Board as a Brigadier General.[2]

Siddiqui is the chairman of Shimanto Bank.[3] He was the Director of the Internal Affairs Bureau of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence.[4]

Career

Siddiqui joined the Bangladesh Military Academy and received his commission on 10 December 1992.[5]

Siddiqui also served as Commander, 11th Artillery Brigade and Director,[4] Internal Affairs Bureau of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence.[6] He was the chairman of the Army Sports Control Board.[7] He was the director of Military Training Directorate.[7]

Siddiqui was the head of the risk management committee and trustee board member of Trust Bank Limited.[5] He served in United Nations Mission in Sudan and the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea.[5]

Siddiqui was the commander of the 9th Artillery Brigade of Bangladesh Army.[8]

On 30 January 2024, Siddiqui was appointed director general of the Border Guards Bangladesh replacing Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan.[9] Deputy secretary of the Public Administration ministry, Abdullah Arif Mohammad, signed the gazette notification.[10]

In February 2024, Siddiqui said that he would not allow any more Rohingya people to enter Bangladesh from Myanmar.[11]
