The Matale Polling Division has a Sinhalese majority (68.3%), a significant Moor population (15.1%) and a significant Sri Lankan Tamil population (12.4%) . In comparison, the Matale Electoral District (which contains the Matale Polling Division) has a Sinhalese majority (80.8%) [1]
