During a fire drill at a high-rise, Bobby learns Buck has finally taken a "light duty" role as fire inspector on his path to recovery. Back at the firehouse, Buck is upset to discover Lena has taken his spot while he's away. He has a dinner with Athena and Bobby which is arranged by the former, which gets tense as they question together Buck's ability to perform as a firefighter but one of them confesses to be directly responsible for his backbenching to "light duty," causing him to storm off with a pledge. With Athena's encouragement, Hen and Karen decide to expand their family. At dinner with Chimney, Maddie has a flashback about Doug and rushes out in a panic. At work, Maddie takes a call from a distressed woman who hangs up when her husband hears her. Concerned, Maddie secretly seeks out the woman and sees her arguing with her husband. Maddie almost runs him over with her car, then befriends the woman by hiring her as a personal trainer. Due to Christopher's recurring tsunami nightmares, Eddie takes him to a therapist. Christopher tells Eddie that the "drowning woman" in his dreams is Shannon, his deceased mother. After consulting with a lawyer, Buck decides to sue the city, the department, and Bobby for wrongful termination.
335"Rage"Jann TurnerLyndsey BeaulieuOctober 21, 2019 (2019-10-21)3LAY066.54[45]
Buck continues to move forward with his lawsuit against the LAFD and the city but is worried about how it will affect his former teammates during arbitration proceedings. Buck's lawyer also throws the team under the bus during the hearing. Buck is determined to get his job back and fights with the lawyer when he is informed that with the level of prosecutorial aggression displayed, monetary reward is the only damage recoverable as the procedural tactics in the arbitration has rendered him "un-hireable" nationwide. Meanwhile, Michael, May, and Harry experience a traumatic traffic stop with a patrolling officer and his subordinate using excessive force almost leading to the shooting down of Harry, prompting all except Harry to get outraged at the dangerous racial prejudice of cops involved, causing Athena to feel isolated from her family at first but after reviewing the footage and the officer's rap-sheet of complaints from multiple aggrieved community members leading to no improvement, she decides to take matters into her own hands. Eddie is arrested for assault over parking dispute after dropping off Christopher. His anger for not being able to speak to Buck because of the lawsuit leads the two of them to a confrontation in front of the whole team later at a supermarket where Buck "just happened" to be. Also, Lena introduces Eddie to a fighting ring to take out his pent-up anger. The 118 also deals with a protest at a duck farm by young animal rights activists, a woman who is trapped in a "rage room" with her husband's mistress who caused more fury than average at the key revelation, and a road rage incident that occurs in the parking lot of the supermarket that the team and Buck are shopping at. At the end of the episode, Bobby tells Buck that he is reinstating him back to the 118 due to the city's desire to settle the lawsuit instead of prolonging it to trial, which they fear may end up looking worse for both sides. Also, Hen and Karen's plan to have more children takes a turn for the worse.
346"Monsters"Tina MabryChristopher MonfetteOctober 28, 2019 (2019-10-28)3LAY076.26[46]
It is Halloween in Los Angeles, and the police and first responders are put on high alert. Buck's heavily litigation and liability waived conditional return to the 118 following his wrongful termination lawsuit is further dampened by an icy reception, especially from Bobby who cares about him secretly but also distanced Eddie. Immediately, Buck is again put on "light duty," this time of handing out candy at the firehouse by Bobby. Him and Eddie make amends at last, after learning Eddie's anger was due to Buck not considering how the lawsuit could affect their relationship, especially because of total social-interaction restraints imposed on 118 at the time of his needs. Later on, Buck unofficially and incidentally responds to a BOLO where a man who was hit by a car 2 nights earlier is put one-third of his body through the windshield with the driver continuing to ignore it night out and day in. Buck is forced to go to the hospital after he cuts his arm on broken glass as noticed by a visiting paramedic, but Bobby sees that he is ready to return and Buck is reinstated as a full member of the team again. Meanwhile, Athena responds to a house that is filled with malnourished children chained up in the basement after 2 of them set themselves free and deliriously walk upto the door of an adult neighbor with the "trick and treat" queue and the 118 responds to a daytime call where two young boys are attacked by crows who are provoked after one of the boys pelted stones at them. A crow later follows Chimney around all day and it turns out that the crow just wanted to return his lost, forgotten name tag. Also, Chimney is worried about Maddie as she continues to befriend a woman who is in the same situation she was in ("Triggers"). The two get into an argument after Chimney understands that Maddie is just trying to be a friend to the young woman. The woman eventually finds out that Maddie is stalking her and files a restraining order against her. Maddie's supervisor also suspends her from taking calls, and orders that Maddie must undergo a psychological evaluation before returning to work.

Athena receives shocking news that the gun used in her former fiancé's 28-year old murder cold case was recovered. She then makes it her mission to find the person responsible, much to the dismay of Bobby and her mother as they think that she’s too close to the case. The episode also shows flashbacks to 1989 when Athena first became a police officer after meeting her future fiancé at a job fair. Hen's discovery about her mother's past leads her to try and reconnect the former lovers, but Toni rebuffs the attempt, later revealing to Hen that she was planning to run away with the man, having still been married to Hen's father at the time. Toni found out that she was pregnant with Hen the day she was supposed to leave and realized she couldn't abandon her family. Hen tells her mother that Toni is now her family's priority, not the other way around, and this gives Toni the courage she needs to reconnect with her former flame.

The episode starts in a christmas village where a woman learns that her husband is also married to another woman, while he is supposed to be away on business. The man tries to escape, but is hit by a trolley, at which point the 118 crew step in. Eddie sets up a Christmas tree with Christopher, though they have a difficult time. Meanwhile, May spends Christmas working overtime at the dispatch center. Josh gets a call from an elderly woman who seeks company. At the hospital, Athena delivers some wise words to the two women from the start of the episode. A woman gains the courage to ask her co-worker out on a date to a philharmonic concert, however he is somewhat shocked and she then backs into an open elevator shaft. The 118 come to the rescue, and the co-worker confesses that he hates philharmonic due to his ex, and has secretly had a crush on her for some time. Eddie and Chris stress more over his need to make this a perfect Christmas. The "frequent flyer" caller from before returns. Athena goes to speak with her, and they have a heartfelt talk about their daughters having grown away from them. Part of a house collapses on a car, trapping a man inside, leaving the family without their house for Christmas. The elderly woman is visited by her daughter and her daughter's family for Christmas, while a Christmas celebration is set up in a motel park for the families that were in the collapsed building. Eddie tells Hen, Buck, and Ravi that he is leaving the 118, due to Christopher's fear that he could lose his dad while working as a firefighter.
