The site is also home to the North East London Independent Sector Treatment Centre.

Service Changes

The Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust has been given University status to mark the quality of medical and nursing teaching and training on offer at both sites.

On 15 December 2010 the joint committee of PCTs voted unanimously to close the A&E and maternity departments despite local public opposition. It is proposed to close the hospital’s A&E unit by 2015 with Queen's Hospital in Romford due to handle the extra numbers.[1]

The maternity service at the Trust – operating across both hospitals – was at one time the second largest in the country, delivering about 10,000 babies a year. It closed in 2013.
