House Party is an upcoming American comedy film directed by Calmatic from a screenplay by Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori based on the 1990 film of the same name. The film stars Jacob Latimore and Tosin Cole and will be produced by New Line Cinema and released on HBO Max.

Premise
A high schooler sneaks out to his friend's house party in what turns into a wild night full of antics, hip-hop, dance, and lots of fun.

Production
Development
On February 13, 2018, it was announced that New Line Cinema was developing a remake of the 1990 cult comedy House Party with LeBron James and Maverick Carter producing under their production company SpringHill Entertainment. Atlanta's Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori were attached to write the adaptation.[1] On September 17, 2019, it was announced that Old Town Road music video director Calmatic was set to direct the film.[2] The film is set to be released on WarnerMedia's streaming service HBO Max, premiering on streaming video on demand instead of theatrically.[3]
Casting
On April 7, 2021, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. and Tosin Cole were cast in lead roles.[4] However, Lendeborg was replaced by Jacob Latimore on July 28, 2021, after he dropped out of the project to focus on his mental well-being.[5] On April 20, 2021, DC Young Fly was added to the main cast.[6] In June 2021, Karen Obilom joined the cast in a lead role.[3] Melvin Gregg, Rotimi, Allen Maldonado, Shakira Ja'nai Paye, Andrew Santino, and Bill Bellamy were also added to the main cast that same month.[7][8] The following month, Tamera Kissen was cast in the film.[9]
Filming
Principal photography began on July 2, 2021, in California.[10] Production was suspended later that month due to nine positive cases of COVID-19 reported, although only one was a staffer on set and the majority were extras. Filming subsequently resumed on August 2, 2021.[11]
