Going Ape is a three-part American documentary series on the National Geographic Channel[1][2][3] that premiered on 13 May 2013.[4] It explores similarities between the behaviour of chimpanzees and humans through interviews with experts and social experiments.[5][6][7]

Episode 1: The Alpha Male. This episode explores the different ways in which primates establish dominance using body size, control of space and voice. It features primatologist Charlotte Uhlenbrooke[8] and actor Peter Elliott.
Episode 2: Social Climbers. This episode is dedicated to the ways in which primates and humans seek recognition and acceptance in their social groups.[9] Again, it includes an interview with primatologist Charlotte Uhlenbrooke.
Episode 3: Hooking Up. This episode looks at the human dating world and compares it with primates' courtship and mating rituals.[10][11] It includes the testimony of evolutionary psychologist Dr. Miriam Law Smith.
