Fair use

Wikipedia's policy clearly states that

"the use of low-resolution images of magazine covers

• to illustrate the publication of the issue of the magazine in question
• with the publication name either visible on the image itself or written in the image description above,

on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. "

This information is clearly displayed on the image's page; the image is clearly a low resolution of a magazine cover, and is used to illustrate the publication of the issue of the magazine in question.

So far, I have been affronted by a bot and user who have bandied unhelpful template-generated messages about but given no indication of what I can do to placate them, except for "You failed to provide a non-free image use rationale, as required by policy." The rationale above already exists on the image's page.

That same template that you're falsely assuming is a rationale says "this tag is not a sufficient claim of fair use. A link to the source already exists. I believe all the questions raised in the NFURG are either answered by the boiler plate template, or immediately obvious. Could you provide your reasons for believing that this image is not free use? Smith609 Talk 11:59, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
