@Asilvering I will respond here because I'm unsure how to respond just below your comment on the draft article. The word Rinktinė is translated into other English-language sources as "territorial unit" when writting about the Lithuanian military in other cases as well, e.g.

  • Armed Forces of the European Union 2012-2013, p89

(https://www.google.com/books/edition/The_Armed_Forces_of_the_European_Union_2/RMVBkxMuHssC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq="Territorial+Unit"+Lithuania&pg=PA89&printsec=frontcover - to get to the link you need to copy paste it into the search)

  • Parliamentary Lithuanian Mirror, Issue 3, 2011 [doesn't give the page number]

(https://www.google.com/books/edition/Parliamentary_Lithuanian_Mirror/jGuOG2qJ7pEC?hl=en&gbpv=1&bsq="Territorial+Unit"+Lithuania+military&dq="Territorial+Unit"+Lithuania+military&printsec=frontcover)

That said, I am also aware that territorial unit also means totally different things in other places, mostly administrative and not military. Just leaving it as 'unit' is too open to mistakes - a (military) unit means anything from a division to a squad. However, I needed to find an English-language equivalent (WP:ENGLISH) for Rinktinė and 'Territorial Unit' seemed like the best option. Cukrakalnis (talk) 08:15, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Cukrakalnis I think this one might fall under WP:NOTENGLISH actually, but all my first-page-of-google results for Rinktinė are in Lithuanian, so I'm not sure leaving it untranslated is any better. Territorial Unit it is. -- asilvering (talk) 06:11, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
