Wilson Roshan Sequeira(31 August 1980), popularly known by his pen name Wilson Kateel is a Konkani, kannada lyricist, poet and writer.[1]
He was inspired by his grandmother's fluent Konkani. His Family used to sell Beetle leaves for a living and in one of his acceptance speech he said that the fragrance of these leaves flows through his writings.[2]
Wilson Kateel has written more than 400 poems, 10 short stories and a number of essays and established himself as a konkani writer of repute. Having written more than 100 lyrics for konkani albums, movies, drama and serials, he has won three consecutive Global konkani music awards.
He has participated in a number of poetry reciting sessions, all India radio,doordarshan,sahitya academy and Mysore Dasara poetry reciting being notable among them.
The youth award is instituted by kittal.com, a premier Konkani literary web portal with HM Pernal,being its editor. The award is sponsored by NRI businessman Leo Rodrigues and his family.
Wilson Kateel's Kannada poetry book ‘Nishedakkolapatta Ondu Notu’ has bagged best book award for the year 2018 from Karnataka Sahitya Academy. He has bagged the award in ‘Maiden Publication of Young Writers’ category.
