Victoria, Lady Starmer (née Alexander; born c. 1963) is an English former solicitor and the wife of Keir Starmer, the Leader of the Opposition and leader of the Labour Party. She currently works for the NHS.[1]
Early life
editStarmer was born Victoria Alexander in London in 1963, and raised in Gospel Oak, north west London. Her father is a practicing Jew of Polish-Jewish descent, while her mother, a community doctor, converted to the faith.[2] She has a sister named Judith.[3]
She was educated at Channing School in Highgate, London, and later graduated with degrees from Cardiff University and the University of Cambridge.[4]
Career
editShe was previously a solicitor, but now works in NHS occupational health.[5][6] She reportedly will continue in her role in the event her husband is elected Prime Minister.[7]
Personal life
editVictoria married Keir Starmer in 2007.[8] The couple had two children, a son and a daughter, both of whom are being brought up in the Jewish faith of their mother.[9][2]
Starmer is a vegetarian. She and her husband raised their children as vegetarians until they were 10 years old, at which point they were given the option of eating meat.[10]
The couple currently reside in Kentish Town in North London.[7]
