TeaMarrr (born Thamar Noel) is a Haitian-American singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. Specializing in R&B music, she is best known for her songs "One Job" and "Kinda Love".

Early life

TeaMarrr was raised in Waltham and Boston, Massachusetts.[1] She is of Haitian descent. Raised in a strict Christian household, she was not allowed to listen to secular music or watch television on weekdays.[2]

Career

TeaMarrr's debut EP Thanks For The Chapstick was released on August 24, 2018. It was followed by the more successful Before I Spill Myself, which was released under Issa Rae's record label Raedio on May 29, 2020. She was the first artist to be signed by Raedio.[3] The artist also recorded "Temperature" and "Pipe Dreams" for the soundtrack of Rae's TV series, Insecure. TeaMarrr also recorded "Ballin' Up" for the soundtrack of Rae's 2022 TV series Rap Sh!t.

The artist has collaborated on songs with several music artists such as D Smoke, Masego, SiR, Wale and Meer Colon.[4][5][6][7]

In 2020, TeaMarrr released the song "Colors" under Atlantic Records. Featuring rapper Wale, the song is about racial inequality.[8] In the same year, TeaMarr performed in Essence Festival 2020 as part of the Superlounge lineup. Other artists in the lineup included Saweetie, Kiana Ledé, Rapsody and Smino. [9]

In 2023, TeaMarrr released her debut studio album You Should Prolly Sit Down For This.[10]

The singer's work has been covered by Notion, Uproxx, Essence, Pitchfork, HotNewHipHop, WBUR and Interview magazine.[11][12][13]
